Chilton Hazarganji: A Unique Filmmaking Workshop in Balochistan
Chilton Hazarganji, a beautiful mountainous region of Balochistan, is famous for its breathtaking natural landscapes and diverse wildlife. People from all over the country visit this place for picnics, but today, the Balochistan Filmmakers Club organized a unique workshop focused on filmmaking and storytelling.
In this workshop, the founders of Pawaal Film, MD Film, and Shaal Film shared insights into various aspects of filmmaking. The main objective of this workshop was to promote filmmaking in Balochistan. Due to the absence of acting and filmmaking academies in the region, many young and senior artists often move to bigger cities in search of opportunities. However, a few determined young individuals in Balochistan are committed to telling their local stories to the world.
During the workshop, participants learned how to showcase their films at national and international film festivals and on OTT platforms. Senior artists from Balochistan also participated in this unique event and expressed their willingness to collaborate with emerging filmmakers.
The primary goal of the workshop was to highlight social stories, preserve cultural heritage, and bring local narratives to a global audience. Paawal Film’s founder, Naseer Rind, discussed the fundamental principles of filmmaking, explaining how to shoot a feature or short film and how filmmakers can submit their work to international film festivals.
Veteran artists such as Ghulam Ali Lehri, Jameel Lehri, Basheer Raj, and Akbar Sahab considered this program an excellent opportunity for aspiring filmmakers. Many other filmmakers also participated and highly appreciated the event.
All participants expressed hope that more such programs would be organized in the future. They believed that initiatives like these would not only promote tourism but also allow filmmakers and artists to explore and capture the stunning landscapes of Balochistan. By combining filmmaking with camping, they aim to showcase Balochistan’s natural beauty, culture, and stories to the world through cinema.
